Goalkeeper Training November 10 through December 8th

Goalkeeper training will be at South Sound Stadium Mondays beginning November 10.

 Session I:  5:30-6:30pm
Session II: 6:30-7:30pm


Academy Training Begins November 17 at Evergreen State College

SSFC Members and non-members,

As we wind down the fall season, SSFC U11- U13 teams will be participating in the Evergreen Winter Indoor Soccer Academy beginning November 17th through Decdember 17th.  This will replace one of the practice sessions for the remainder of the fall season.  The other training session will be at South Sound Stadium.

There is no additional cost for SSFC players as it will be covered from existing registration fees.    However, you will need to complete and submit the attached form to participate.

Non-SSFC members are also welcome to the academy and may participate by submitting the attached form and paying the fee.  Space is limited, so submit forms early.

Evergreen Indoor Winter Academy Schedule:
Monday
Boys ages 7,8,9       Time: 5:15-6:30
Boys ages 10,11,12  Time: 6:30-7:45

Tuesday
Girls Ages 7,8,     Time: 5:15-6:30
Girls Ages 9,10    Time: 6:30-7:45

 

Wednesday
Girls Ages 11,12   Time: 5:15-6:30

Note: there may be a $1 parking fee per each occurrence.


John Purtteman Hired as Director of Coaching

South Sound FC is proud and excited to announce that John Purtteman will be the Director of Coaching beginning November 1st.

John is the most accomplished trainer in Thurston County as both a player and coach. As a player, John was twice the MVP and most inspirational player for The Evergreen State College. He played professionally for both the Portland Pride and Seattle SeaDogs where he again was most inspirational and selected to the all star team as a member of each team. Refusing to retire, John played for the Washington State Men’s team claiming several national titles.
 
John’s coaching career includes guiding South Puget Sound CC to their first and only championship finals, coached Caledonian to the National Indoor Championship, led the Tacoma Stars to a league championship, and is current head coach of The Evergreen State College men’s and women’s programs.
 
John brings the energy, enthusiasm, and love of the game consistent with SSFC values and we are fortunate that John will be directing our training program. 
 
As Director of Coaching, John’s primary responsibilities will be:
·         Define and implement player development program.
·         Establish coach development plans.
·         Assist in coach team assignments.
·         Determine appropriate competition for teams.
·         Assist in player team assignments.
·         Seek opportunities to promote and recruit players and coaches to strengthen club presence in the community.

South Sound FC Freshmen Make Statement in HS Soccer

South Sound FC continues to provide local high schools with soccer talent as 55 SSFC players are involved, including 18 freshmen who made their High School Varsity teams and 9 JV.  We are proud of all of our athletes and delighted to see our players realize their goals through their dedication, effort, and commitment.

South Sound FC Players Invited to US Club Training Camp

Six South Sound FC players from the G94 White team have been invited to the US Club id2 Regional Training Camp at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California. 

The id2 player identification is similar to the Washington Youth State ODP.

Congratulations and best wishes to the following SSFC players:
1994's Alyssa Edenstrom, Laynee Laube, and Dee Dee Green
1995’s Becca Schoales, Alexa Whitney, and Shauntice Perrigo.

South Sound FC Player Makes Regional ODP Team

Congratulations to Rebecca Schoales (G94 White) for being the only Washington State Youth to make the Girls 1995 Regional ODP Pool.

The US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (ODP) identifies and develops the outstanding youth soccer players in the state and presents them to the Regional Olympic Development Program. Regional ODP players, in turn, become candidates for the National Youth Teams.   Learn More
