South Sound FC Mission and Values

Developing Skills for a Lifetime!

Mission:  To enhance our community; players, families, and the community at large, by modeling and teaching life skills through a competitive soccer program.

Purpose:  South Sound FC is the competitive soccer club for Thurston County Youth Soccer Association.  Our passion for the game drives us to develop youth soccer players to reach their potential in both sport and in life.  Soccer development provides many of the same challenges as experienced in life and SSFC seeks to improve player's skills and abilities in both.  SSFC has adopted 6 values to accomplish it's objectives.

Commitment: Say what you'll do and do what you say.  Being dependable and reliable is critical to both individual and team success.  Competitive soccer requires a significant commitment to perform at a high level.  Expectations are high, but rewards are great.

Discipline: "Because the game demands it".  You'll hear this phrase often when you're around the SSFC trainers.  The game requires a special discipline consisting of a desire to learn and improve, practicing with purpose, being prepared and on time for events, independent development, and understanding consequences to our choices.  Through discipline, SSFC players will learn how to get the most out of their abilities.

Teamwork: Soccer is a team sport.  Players must learn how to work effectively with others.  SSFC seeks to provide successful opportunities for each player, utilizing their natural abilities while encouraging them to try new skills.  By becoming a more proficient player, the team is strengthened.  Players will learn when they need to take the lead and when they should play a supportive role to enhance overall team performance.

Community: SSFC is proud to be a part of such a diverse and thriving community.  We realize there is power in numbers and strive to utilize our resources to enhance the lives of others in our community.  SSFC has participated in food drives, Toys for Tots, and TOP Soccer.  We are always on the look out for other ways to help our community, so if you have any ideas, please let us know.

Fun: Soccer is a game and games should be fun.  Though fun is defined differently for everyone, SSFC believes that fun for it's players is in the challenge of becoming better, experiencing success in skill development, being with players of similar interest and ability, being treated firmly, but fairly and being part of an organization which makes them proud and confident.  Please advise the SSFC board or Directors of Training  anytime your child is not experiencing the joy of playing soccer.

Great Value: SSFC believes that competitive soccer should be accessible to all who want to commit to the challenge.  Our fee structure covers the minimal amount required to operate the club and provide the best quality training available to our athletes.  Fundraisers and donations keep the costs within reach of most families and those still stretched can privately request financial assistance.  Our coaches and trainers are passionate about the game and want to share that passion with players.  SSFC training fees cover base expenses, which differs from clubs which are structured to provide full time employment for their staff.   See our participation cost sheet for details.
